How long have you been CrossFitting? A little over a year


What keeps you coming back? The atmosphere at CrossFit Algiers is so encouraging and inspiring that I can’t wait to go every day.  They really want you to succeed here and they do everything they can to help you. This isn’t the kind of gym that just wants you to pay your dues and hopes you never show up. They want you to come, they want you to accomplish your goals.

How did you find CrossFit? I heard about Crossfit a few years ago when my brother started doing it in another state and it piqued my curiosity. But I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to keep up. I then ran into Coach Missy, who I used to play soccer with, and she invited me to the upcoming Bring a Friend workout. I actually didn’t make it that day, but by then I had convinced myself this is what I needed to do! I went one afternoon and checked out the gym and immediately signed up for the Foundations course that was starting the next week. And I’ve been hooked ever since.


What is your athletic background?  I grew up playing soccer, swimming, doing gymnastics, dancing, horseback riding and just being a pretty active kid.


How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle and level of fitness?  CrossFit has more than changed my life – it has revolutionized my life. As I approach my 40s (shhh…..don’t tell!), I feel like an athlete again. Every day, I am getting stronger, fitter, and leaner. While I know that I still have a long way to go, with CrossFit, I have adopted a lifestyle that will get me there faster and better than I would be able to do with any other workout or on my own.

Is there something you have done here that you never thought you could do? One thing?! There are so many!



What motivates/inspires you? CrossFit makes me feel great – both during the workouts themselves and afterwards. The progress I see in myself as well as the results of my fellow CFA athletes inspires me to return and strive for continued improvement.  I am doing things that I did not think I would be able to do. I truly feel as though I am living my best life and am inspired to continue to seek out better health for the rest of my life.


What goals have you achieved so far, and what else do you want to accomplish?

I have lost over 45 pounds and I have gotten physically and mentally stronger. I used to look at the workouts and dread them if there were movements that I couldn’t do. Now I go, knowing that trying things that I struggle with only makes me better. I look forward to doing things I never thought possible and I hope to continue with my weight loss goals.   


Hobbies/interests outside of CrossFit? Being with family and friends, traveling, being outdoors (if it’s not too hot!), volunteering and playing with my dogs.


Any advice for new members?  If you’re thinking about trying CrossFit, do it! If you’re not thinking about trying CrossFit, do it! And just keep coming, you will get better I promise. It has been the best decision I ever made; you will not regret it.
