Which class do you usually attend? 5:15 am
Favorite WOD: Murph
Favorite Lift: Back squats although are a challenge for me.
How long have you been CrossFitting? 7 months
What keeps you coming back? CrossFit builds friendships, strength in mind and body and reaps body change results that other regimes don’t match
How did you find CrossFit?. I have the best daughter in law in the world, Vilma. She invited me. I was looking for something that would work on flexibility, strength and agility – CrossFit is it!
What is your athletic background? I danced classical ballet until my early 30’s. After that I tried spin, step classes and weight circuit classes. However, since Katrina I was sedentary.
How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle and level of fitness? I am a high energy person, but now my energy is purposeful. I no longer feel like “old” achy and stiff.
Is there something you have done here that you never thought you could do? Box jumps, kipping, deadlifted 125 lbs. (1 rep max), completed the Murph on May 31, 2016!
What motivates/inspires you? The Crossfit Algiers family and its positive energy! Also, I want to be active, strong and healthy as I age.
What goals have you achieved so far, and what else do you want to accomplish? I want to do a full pull up unaided, double unders, and a full rope climb. A handstand push up! (scares me but I will succeed).
Hobbies/interests outside of CrossFit? The French Language, Wine, cooking, travel and my beautiful grandchildren, William and Natalie!
Don’t be intimidated. Scale as needed as starting but keep your sights on advancing – Never Give Up. Celebrate your accomplishments. Don’t turn off the alarm and roll over –Go to CrossFit even when you think you are too tired –you’ll be stronger for it! Eat healthy everyday – you will feel so much better and stronger.
