Which class do you usually attend? 5:15 pm, but I love the 5:15 am class, too. There’s something magical about starting my workday with that already checked off my to-do list.
Favorite WOD: Just about any AMRAP
Favorite Lift: Deadlift
How long have you been CrossFitting? About 14 months. I started immediately after completing a bootcamp at CFA. I knew I wanted to continue improving the foundation built in boot camp.
What keeps you coming back? The people! I’ve never been surrounded by such supportive and encouraging folks like I have at CFA.
How did you find CrossFit? I joined the bootcamp offered at CFA and had a blast! Once that was over, I knew I didn’t want to lose any of that progress, so I committed to Crossfit!
What is your athletic background? I did some cheerleading, but that’s about it.
How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle and level of fitness? I have a chronic health condition and sometimes struggle with fatigue and pain. CrossFit has helped me gain mental strength that has helped me get through some tough times. I sleep so much better now and have a much better outlook on life. My boys have seen how fun CrossFit is, and we make up workouts for them to do at home. They love it! I enjoy knowing we are showing them how important and fun physical activity can be.
Is there something you have done here that you never thought you could do? Definitely! I competed in my first power lifting competition!!
What motivates/inspires you? Every single athete at CFA! Each of them are fighting some sort of battle whether it be an illness, injury, or just life in general! No matter what they’re going through, they choose to show up and work through it.
Name one goal/personal achievement that you would like to achieve through CrossFit. I want to get my first rope climb soon!
What goals have you achieved in CrossFit? Maintained consistency! I’ve never stuck with an exercise plan very long. With CrossFit, it’s always different, and I love that!
Hobbies/interests outside of CrossFit? I enjoy redoing old furniture and doing crafty stuff.
Tell me about your diet: I try to get enough protein. I usually have a meal replacement shakes and fruit for breakfast, tuna and salad for lunch, and identify dinner meals each week. It’s all about balance, I think. This is New Orleans, and there’s always something yummy to eat!
Just show up. Reserve for your classes, and just get there. Don’t get caught up in the details of the workout. The fabulous coaches will scale and modify it to suit your fitness level, so don’t stress! See you at the box!
